We pride ourselves in not just treating teeth, but treating the child that is attached to the teeth. This is the reason why our practice is an airway-focused orthodontic practice.
Early diagnosis is extremely important for proper oral-facial formation and function. With airway-focused orthodontics, we try to address issues with dental aesthetics, function, growth and sleep disorders while respecting the importance of an optimal airway.
Call us for your Orthodontic consultation so we can get you on your way to a beautiful smile and a healthy airway.
Initially, we will conduct a full examination of the child’s teeth. This may involve taking plaster models of the teeth, dental x-rays, or physical exams. Then, a dentist will talk about the best treatment for your child’s needs.
Depending on the child’s teeth, they may need braces, retainers, removable braces, or other orthodontic devices. Over time, we will tighten or adjust these devices to move the teeth into place. In most cases, your child will be expected to wear a retainer for a period of time after the braces or other devices are removed to keep the teeth in place.
Orthodontic devices are safe for the teeth. However, your child may develop cavities and other issues if they do not take care of their teeth. Brushing around the brackets and eating braces-approved foods can help protect the appearance and health of your child’s teeth.
After your child finishes their treatment, it is normal for the teeth to move a little bit. However, it is rare for the teeth to move so much that we have to do the treatment again. A retainer can also help your child’s teeth remain in the right position.
